Gold Star Widow of U.S. Army Major Larry J. Bauguess, Jr.
Major Larry Bauguess deployed to Saudi Arabia in 1997 and served in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. On May 14, 2007, Major Bauguess, his Commander and others were attending a peace meeting in a tribal region of Pakistan. Despite the success of the meeting, as he and his men were leaving, a uniformed Pakistani Frontier Guardsman opened fire without warning. Major Bauguess stood between the shooter and his men, saving their lives, but giving his own.
Wesley Bauguess is the proud mother of two amazing young ladies, both of whom are Folds of Honor scholarship recipients and attending college. She is also a member of the Speaker’s Bureau for Folds of Honor and the author of the book, God, Country, Golf: Reflections of an Army Widow. Wesley and her daughters miss their hero every day, but continue to drive on, be the best they can be and live their lives honoring him each step of the way.
